Online Reputation Management

What sets one company, or website, apart from another in the online search results?  Why are some websites landing on the first page of results and other on page three and four. How do companies secure a spot on the local listings maps?  Many would suggest that it takes an army of high sophisticated digital marketing gurus to make any of that happen. Nothing could be further from the truth. While digital marketing sales reps are peddling a huge variety of necessary and unnecessary services, a small company can make a huge online impact with minimum spending. Follow these basic guidelines and you’ll soon be on your way to landing your company’s website on the first page of search engine results.

One of the simplest and most effective online marketing campaigns is reputation management; this is also sometimes referred to as reputation marketing. Whatever term is used, the meaning is the same. Taking a proactive approach to your online reputation is critical not only for the search engine rankings results, but for the growth of your company through new customer acquisition.  Whether you have a small legal practice, a new restaurant or a laser hair removal salon, the same principles hold.  Notice, when searching for sites online, the five star rankings that are most often adjacent to the highest ranking websites.  These five star rankings don’t happen by themselves.  Make a conscious effort to ask your satisfied clients and customer to go online and write a simple review. You can even email them the link to the major online review sites. It is only a question of time before your company receives a negative online review. Respond to these both online and directly with the disgruntled customer. As contrary as it sounds, one or two negative reviews actually lend credibility to the overwhelming positive review your company will receive if you actively solicit them. The end goal is a five star ranking.  Potential clients will select a company with the highest reputation ranking to do business with. Good luck to you!
