We recently came across a seriously cool and free online video maker and we just had to post about it on Bloggtech.

Free Online Video Maker – Renderforest

Renderforest is an online web service that allows you to create high quality and customizable videos in a matter of minutes using hundreds of cool templates. Once you have created the video and added everything that you need to make it your own, you can then have the video automatically “rendered” by renderforest after which you can download a copy for free (It just has a watermark and is of average quality (320p).

Rendering only takes a couple of minutes at most so you can have a professional quality video ready for publishing in in no time at all.

If you would prefer either a higher quality video (up to 1024p full HD) then you have the option to pay a small one time fee for the service:

  • 720p HD video download is just $4.99
  • 1024p full HD video download is just $9.99

When you see the quality of the video you will appreciate that this price is very low – we have seen several similar services charging upwards of $100 for similar videos and perhaps not even as good as those offered by Renderforest.

The great thing about this service is that its super easy to use – the entire process for a first time user – from registering, to customizing the video slides to having the video fully rendered and downloaded to your computer can take just 5-10 minutes.

Hundreds of video templates

Renderforest_DevicesOnce you have registered on Renderforest and logged in, the first thing you should do is take a look at the video template library. There are literally hundreds of video templates in here and you can filter the templates by several different things – such as category, length of video and you can also search through the entire list for specific keywords.

the idea being that you can find just the right video template for the project that you have in mind – be it a product promotion, advertisement or perhaps even a wedding video for a friend.

Customizing your video

Once you have picked the video template that suits your needs, the next step is to customize the video. The first thing that we did was to add in our own text to each slide – this is really easy to do – just click the text and you are presented with a text box where you can type in whatever is required.

As you add your own text to each slide, you will also notice that there are placeholder slides on which you can also add your own background images. We found some royalty free images via google image search and added those to each placeholder slide.

If you have audio for the project – perhaps a voice over, or maybe some royalty free music you can also add that to the video project and have it overlaid automatically during the rendering process.

As you are adding text and images to the project it is being saved on Renderforest’s servers in real time, so once the project is complete there is no need to download it or render it immediately – you can come back to the project in progress at any point.

Once you are happy with the project then you can render the video. At this time you will be presented with several options – whether you want to go for the free watermarked video, 720p or full 1024p HD video format.

Once you have selected the appropriate option and made the payment if selecting a high quality non-watermarked version then the video project will be rendered – all of your customisations processed and added to the video after which time you will be presented with a download option, after which you will have a full copy of the video project on your PC.

Once you have the video file you can then put it to use in wahtever project it was intended for. In our case we just made a simple video to showcase our website (Bloggtech) and also as an example to our readers of the sort of videos that can be made with this free online video maker service. As a side note, this video took us just a few minutes to make, render and download.
